Programs for Children & Families Awvailable through  Directions for Mental HealthPrograms : Children & Families

  • Outpatient Counseling is the service most people think of when they think of behavioral health treatment. The great majority of new requests for service are for outpatient treatment. Individual, family and group therapy services are available in two convenient locations in Clearwater and Largo. Families are also seen in their homes when indicated. The Children's Outpatient Department is also a licensed provider of substance abuse counseling.
  • Psychiatric Services include Medication Management and are available for the diagnosis and treatment of children with moderate to severe disturbances
  • Case Management identifies needs, and coordinates care and resources to support the highly-stressed families of children with severe problems through assessment, planning, linkage, advocacy, coordination and monitoring.
  • Early Childhood Services provides in-home parenting skills training for parents and on-site training for child care personnel The early childhood specialists offer training in caring for infants, toddlers and preschoolers (0-5);and provide therapy services for those with more intensive behavioral and emotional problems.
  • Directions for Mental Health is one of only two sites in Florida of the National Child Traumatic Stress Network. By partnering with leading experts from across the country, staff provide expertise to improve treatment and systems of care for children and youths who have been victims of violence, witnesses to violence or suffered a traumatic loss.
