The Juvenile Welfare Board (JWB) Children’s Services Council of Pinellas County awarded Directions for Mental Health a three-year A.S.S.E.T. certification for the following programs:
- Children's Outpatient
- Kid Connection (based in many high-need elementary schools)
- Outreach Services to the Homeless
- Early Childhood Consultation
A.S.S.E.T. (Agency Self-Study Efficacy Tool) is a standards-based comprehensive review developed by JWB for funded agencies to assist in the process of facilitating strong services for the children, families and communities of Pinellas County. The JWB Review Team noted in their September 2007 summary report that:
- Directions’ Board of Directors, Executives and staff are dedicated to the mission of Directions and committed to excellence in serving the community.
- During the interview process, the staff spoke highly of their jobs and made positive comments referring to the freedom of creativity involved with their jobs, the strong passion of co-workers, exemplification of diversity in the population served, and the ability to meet the clients within the client’s own environment.
- Directions has a strong clinical base in multiple models of evidence-based practices for the treatment of traumatized children.
- Directions takes pride in using evidence-based practices in all of its clinical programs and requires all staff members to continue their training in evidence-based practices.
