Dr. John Grohol’s Psych Central website may be a good place to start in your effort toward recovery from mental illness. This website offers a number of helpful services
- Symptom checklists and detailed treatment information for most diagnosable mental illnesses.
- Interesting articles written by professionals on a wide range of topics can be found in the Psychology Articles and News section.

Devoted to your personal effort toward recovery from mental illness. The site is divided into five sections.
- Kids and Families
Covers topics that range from adoption to your child’s right to equal access to education.

Focuses on specific disorders such as depression and schizophrenia but also covers more general topics such as stress management and relationship issues.

Focuses on hospital stays, worker with medical professionals (health care teams), and topics such as pain management.

Resource for parents with teenagers in crisis. While the online tool is time-consuming to complete, it is recommended by a number of mental health professionals and reports to provide a “comprehensive assessment of the psychosocial status of their child.” After parents complete the assessment, there is a report that provides an analysis of the collected information that can also be shared with a counselor.
