About Lara Mekhitarian, LMFT
HOW I CAN HELP YOU HEAL
As a trauma specialist, I combine a variety of modalities, tailoring your treatment plan to your individual needs. Trained and certified in a variety of treatment modalities, I use EMDR and TRM as the two main tools of practice to help my clients work through their challenges, find safety and connection within their bodies, and develop an arsenal of coping skills that can help manage symptoms that can feel debilitating.
My talk therapy approach combines the powerful coping and reframing tools of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (both trauma-based and traditional), a psychodynamic framework to better understand attachment styles, family of origin, and any past experiences that still impact you today, and an existential approach in helping you create the meaning within your own life that resonates and feels true to you today.
Discovering your strength on a personal level, especially after a trauma, can be intimidating, but I’m committed to bettering my clients’ lives in whatever capacity they need. From discovering your personal passions and reviving diminished confidence to helping you rebuild your identity after suffering trauma, sometimes life works better with a compassionate professional.
Above all else, all client relationships begin with honesty, trust, and unconditional positive regard. You deserve nothing less.
There is a day-to-day reality that you already envision. There is a level of healing you know is within your grasp. People define personal triumph in many ways, but for me, it’s all about finding a way to thrive.
Thriving is more than doing well. Thriving is finding success for the heart, mind, and soul.
Thriving is an empowering realization and a drive based in desire and determination. Thriving is a success story.
As your therapist and the leader of the Heal the Hurt team, I help you build confidence and work through your difficulties so you can evolve emotionally and personally. You have your own incredible story to tell, and I look forward to encouraging and assisting you as you shape your next chapter.

Luna is a five year old, 11 pound Chihuahua / Terrier mix. Luna was rescued from Pasadena Humane Society and has since flourished since living in Crescenta Valley. Luna is shy at first, but once she warms up she can never get enough affection and play time. Luna is very obedient, quiet, and supportive. Her sensitive nature and intuition flow when she’s around those in need of some extra TLC. Luna loves her treats and would love the opportunity to show you all her cool tricks if you give her anything that has chicken in it. Luna was one of the founding members of Heal the Hurt Counseling with her momma Lara Mekhitarian, LMFT. Luna has helped a great deal of children, teens, and adults work through their emotional trauma by providing additional comfort and support (and most definitely smiles). Please be sure to ask Lara any questions you may have about Luna and if you would like her to participate in your sessions.
